When Visage designer Janine Nuku set out to create her winter 2010 collection, she wanted to give women a feeling of comfort and wellbeing.

But rather than turning to nostalgia to achieve this end, Janine has created a collection full of new ideas and modern twists.

"I thought about what women wanted in wintertime and I kept coming back to this idea of wellbeing," says Janine. "This idea is most obviously expressed using cosy fabrics and cocooning shapes. But fashion must also be contemporary and forward thinking to make us feel good."

The ease with which Janine has bought together these often disparate ideas is testament to her confidence at the helm. The resulting collection melds rich textures with feminine folds and fuses luxurious yarns with bold, directional detailing.

In keeping with Visage's trademark style, the collection is comprised of key separates that can be reconfigured into any number of arrangements. Combine tapered or straight leg wool pants with a cabled knit jumper for weekend wear, or top with a double-breasted tweed coat to brave the cold. Wear the woven dress over fine-knit merino basics to show off clever neck detailing, or pair it with a cashmere wrap for a simpler silhouette.

”I've created options," says Janine. "You are limited only by your imagination. For an edgy look, try wearing the sleeveless gilet upside down, or cinch soft knits in at the waist with a chunky belt."

The colour palette shows further evidence of Visage's breadth of appeal. Hues of bone, ash, grey and navy create a sophisticated base, while alternative pollen and freesia brights provide highlights for a glamorous leisure look. Jacquard and ribbed knits are shown in rich, moody tones, while blends of colour create playful textures.
